This was shot in Aug. 08 in Jaipur. The architectural beauty and unique structure attracted me to shoot it. Hawa Mahal is a Rajput style of Architecture and literally means Palace of Winds. This honeycombed building was originally built to fascilitate the women of Royal household to watch the everyday life and processions of the city. Fall is my favorite season of the year! I especially love all the colors it brings--oranges of pumpkins and the golds and reds of Indian corn; reflected also in the beautiful changes in colors of leaves on trees. I had bought the small, minature pumpkin in the foreground and Indian corn in the background for a home decoration from a local supermarket. This aboriginal dancer is a typical dancer of Central Australia. I am from Holland and have lived in Alice Springs (Central Australia) for two years now. This man showed a ritual dance to honour the land we live in, walk on, and feed ourselves from. The blurriness adds to the mystique of the character, I think. This photo was taken in Monument Valley in October 2007. I believe that this particular area on the Utah/Arizona border is one of the most scenic places to visit in the Southwest.
