It was a sunny day-not overwhelming in heat-but bright. Such glorious afternoons are made of magic, as nature defies herself; the cool breeze did not take up the heat of the pounding sunlight above us, so I savored the light without physical strain. This is just two doors down from me. It seems like all week long this field looked so lovely with a little bit of fog in it -- but I was always on my way to work and could not stop to photograph it. Well on Sunday when I woke, there was a little bit of fog, so out the door I headed and I am glad I did. I just love the peacefulness of this scene. I hope you enjoy it too. I was fascinated watching the salmon navigate this small waterfall in Sitka, Alaska. This was my favorite shot, catching the fish in mid jump as it fought the current in its relentless determination to spawn upstream. Great Sand Dunes National Park is a magnificent and unique geological anomaly in southern Colorado. Mountain sized sand dunes rise to rival the Sangre de Christo mountains. While living in Okinawa, Japan, I was able to attend numerous traditional performances, many of which featured these striking Yotsudake dancers. I had arrived late at this particular event, and the dancers had just finished and were in the process of leaving the stage. Struck by the sight of their backs rather than the head-on views one usually sees, I grabbed my camera and shot without any time for thinking or preparing.
