The Arenal Volcano is an elusive subject, because most of the time it's covered with clouds making it very dificult to photograph. It was early am...just at sunrise when I took this picture. I was hiking along the C&O Canal (Chesapeake & Ohio--which runs from Cumberland, MD to just outside Washington, DC). I spotted this guy just off the path. My theory is that the best animal captures are at eyeball level, so I plopped down on my belly in the wet grass to get the shot. Historic Brattonsville, in South Carolina is a preserved 18th century farm, that was the site of a US Revolutionary War battle. Every year, there is a re-enactment of the Battle of Huck's Defeat.
